Cornchip's Revolver Arcade Project

Welcome to my Mame Arcade project. First started in March of 2006 and finished in December of the same year. There's been more off than on with the cabinet...but with winter here I was unable to create more excuses to finish it. So on with the details....

Specifications -

- Computer IBM Netvista 2.66 Ghz, 160 Gig HD, Radeon 9600 AGP and 1 GIG memory. Running Windows XP Pro.

- Monitor - HP p1130 decased with custom machined hardware for 90 degree rotation to facilitate both Horizontal and Vertical orientation. Powered by a 12V power window motor. Reasons for this type motor above all...DC power can be simply reversed versus AC which cannot unless multiple phases. All works with a keyed switch at the front of the control panel. Monitor is momentarily powered off by a limit switch via a cam during transit long enough to defeat the need to degauss. Works like a charm. :)

- Cabinet plans are slightly reworked 'Lusid' type. The width is kept a 26" between the side panels. Otherwise....consideration for depth to accommodate the monitor and mechanical gear were needed and added in. Also...I noted that 'Knee' room was needed for comfort....so the base was changed by a couple of inches.

- Arcade related parts were all bought form GroovyGameGear.com. All parts were of high quality. Recommended.

- Simple and clean graphics for the side panels and marquee were bought stock from Mamemarquees.com. All fit great with no hassle. Also recommended.

- Arcade control panel inspired by BOYAC member 'KINEVEL'. I really liked his clean approach to design. My only change made was to eliminate the dedicated '4 way' joystick and move the spinner to that placement. This was needed for games like Golden Tee Golf. The panel top is Waterjet cut from 14 gage 304 SS brushed. Button surrounds are cut from black textured vynil from Parts Express.

- All buttons are softly lit with Blue GroovyGameGear 'Button Blaster' LED's. Also lit are the custom spinner top and 'Bat' handles. Well worth the bother making. :) To tie it together I installed a translucent 3" trackball.

- No plans are included here for the custom parts needed to build this project. Just ideas.
